The opportunity

The role provides an exceptional Leveraged Finance candidate the opportunity to work with a high performing team as part of the national and international Capital & Debt Advisory business. Within the Private Equity sub-vertical, we advise PE clients on accessing all types of financing, from refinancings, LBOs and sell-sides as well as some ABL, ARR and NAV based financings, approaching banks, credit funds and alternative lenders.
Your key responsibilities
We would like to meet candidates for an Associate Director role as we look to strengthen our Debt Advisory team and to grow the execution and origination capabilities in line with the increased levels of activity we are seeing in the market.
Debt Advisory Associate Directors play a key role in the team and advise on a wide variety of transactions, interacting with clients and other professionals such as lenders and lawyers, overseeing / managing the transactions on a day-to-day basis.
Main responsibilities include:
1. Managing and working as part of a team on projects from start to finish covering all transaction stages from initial proposal right through to completion
2. Acting as the main point of contact for clients and all stakeholders during a transaction process on day-to-day matters
3. Overseeing the work of project teams and coordinating various work streams, liaising with and managing various stakeholders on transactions including key client contacts, lenders and other advisors
4. Leading and managing the delivery of high-quality transaction documentation, including the preparation of information packs, management presentations, term sheets, structuring and financial analysis and other project deliverables
5. LBO modelling, including analysing business forecasts, undertaking and evaluating scenario analysis, building financing overlays and covenant calculations
6. Supporting business development initiatives, including the production of high-quality collateral, developing pitch documents and attending meetings with clients and prospects
7. Coaching and contributing to the development of more junior team members
8. Further developing your own business network
Skills and attributes for success
We would expect interested applicants to be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
9. Significant experience of working in leveraged finance or debt advisory, including playing a lead role in day-to-day management of projects, including preparation of information packs, management presentations, financial analyses, term sheets and client communications
10. Strong experience with financial modelling related to debt transactions
11. Strong stakeholder management skills, developing close working relationships with clients, lenders and other advisors
12. Assisting Partners and senior members of the team with targeting, marketing and preparation of proposal materials, as well as client coverage
13. Proactively building and developing a network of internal and external relationships amongst professional intermediaries, private equity houses, corporate targets and clients
14. Experience and understanding of different debt markets, including various market conventions and parameters and being able to clearly articulate these to clients, as well as the ability to challenge conventions to develop tailored solutions and flexibly adapt as transactions evolve
15. Demonstrate confidence in client situations, gaining client acceptance and demonstrating value through advice and insight, providing tailored, bespoke solutions
16. Sound commercial judgement and an ability to generate creative solutions to problems and 'think on your feet'
17. Demonstrate strong financial acumen and a solid understanding of financial statements
18. Agility to convert analysis into various outputs (including outputs used to support Board level conversations), to present results in a clear and concise manner
19. Ability to manage and develop more junior team members; and
20. Strong time management skills, including informing the team of progress and highlighting any issues (as appropriate)

21. Extensive experience working in debt advisory, banking or a related field, operating in a deal related environment, ideally with some leveraged finance experience
22. Strong organisational and project management skills

24. Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
25. Proven team player and ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, organisations and clients
26. Ability to manage tight deadlines
Ideally, you’ll also have:

28. Accounting / finance qualification or similar
29. Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments; and
30. Ability to build strong internal relationships within EY and is committed to business development.
