Multiskilled Carpenter
An opportunity has arisen for a Multiskilled Carpenter to join the Workshop team in the Department of Campus Infrastructure, dedicated to maintaining the University's buildings. You will undertake planned and unplanned maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities. You will also undertake some low-level electrical work and be expected to take part in the on-call rota that attracts an additional allowance.
About you
* completed an apprenticeship in carpentry, building maintenance or similar discipline at NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
* a varied post-apprenticeship experience
* a good understanding of Health & Safety issues and familiarity with basic risk assessments
* excellent customer care and communication skills
* a flexible approach to working using own initiative to prioritise and complete all tasks in a timely and professional manner
Further information
* Basic knowledge of locksmithing, experience using woodworking machinery, and an NVQ Level 3 in carpentry or building maintenance are valued but not essential.
* The work is mostly on the Claverton Down campus but occasionally in city locations, and a UK driving license is required.
* This is a full-time role working 36.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday), with possible overtime opportunities.
