A leading global Tier 1 hedge fund is looking to appoint a senior Risk Technology Lead within its London office.
This is a compelling opportunity to work at the heart of a front‑office environment, taking ownership of the development and enhancement of business‑critical risk systems that directly underpin trading, portfolio construction, and risk management across a multi‑asset platform.
You will operate as a senior technical figure, partnering closely with trading, quantitative, and risk teams to design and deliver scalable, high‑performance risk solutions. The role offers a balance of hands‑on involvement and leadership responsibility, with a strong emphasis on setting technical direction, guiding a team, and driving consistent, high‑quality delivery.
Responsibilities
* Lead the architecture and ongoing development of core risk systems used across trading and portfolio management
* Deliver real‑time risk capabilities, including PnL, sensitivities, and scenario analysis
* Act as a key point of interaction between engineering, risk, and front‑office stakeholders
* Define and drive best practices across architecture, design, and engineering standards
* Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers within a high‑performance environment
* Oversee delivery across the full software lifecycle, from requirements through to production
* Remain technically engaged, contributing to key components and code reviews where needed
* Enhance system performance, scalability, and overall platform robustness
Requirements
* Strong Java engineering experience within low‑latency or front‑office systems
* Solid understanding of market risk concepts, including PnL, Greeks, and stress testing
* Experience leading or mentoring engineers within a trading or hedge fund environment
* Strong system design and architectural expertise
* Proven ability to work closely with trading, risk, and quantitative teams
* Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions
* Strong communication skills and the ability to operate across technical and business domains
