Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Test & Evaluation Engineer on a 6 Month Contract, based in Lisburn.
The successful applicant will work within the core technology and wider engineering teams, working in transformer diagnostic technology including the use of photo acoustic spectroscopy and optical techniques for dissolved gas analysis (DGA).
The Asset Monitoring product line is a class leading vendor of sensing devices and systems to electrical utilities and industrial customers. The product line spans sensing of multiple asset types and has a broad portfolio of advanced technology, which aid customers to understand and optimize the operating condition of key assets such as HV/MV power transformers and circuit breakers. Our products include the Kelman DGA900, Hydran M2-X and BMT-330.
Role Responsibilities
Support testing & concept development on product and gas sensing feature enhancements
• Lead quality investigations on component and product defects, utilising industry standard problem-solving methodologies as appropriate
• Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver on quality & R&D projects.
• Report status of projects to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Work under own initiative to define and execute test plans.
• Build & leverage product expertise to support field service and factory teams when required.
• Work with and analyse large data sets to draw out/ report on technical findings.
• Help write & define technical/operational system requirements for product enhancements.
• Safety: engage with all required our client safety processes and take responsibility for the safety of test set ups & product changes as appropriate
Essential Criteria
* Degree-level education in relevant Science or Engineering discipline and/or equivalent 3rd level education.
* Strong record of using data analysis to solve technical/engineering problems.
* Demonstrable history of developing and executing on engineering/scientific test plans.
* Experience developing test setups including relevant safety considerations (e.g., Safety risk assessments)
* Strong communication skills.
* Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering/scientific environment.
* Programming experience using widely known software/analytical software packages (e.g., Python, Matlab etc..) or automation tools (Labview, Simulink etc…).
Desirable Criteria
* PhD / equivalent research experience in relevant physical science or engineering discipline.
* Experience of industry standard quality & lean methodologies such as 5-why, fishbone, 8D etc.
* Experience working in an industrial manufacturer of sensor related products/solutions.
* Experience in the field of dissolved gas analysis / scientific methods for gas detection equipment.
* Experience working with software requirements & test management applications (such as Rally, Application lifecycle management, Jira).
