Location: Liverpool
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time
A fantastic opportunity is available for a committed and skilled English Teacher to join a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about transforming the educational experiences of young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school settings.
As the English Teacher within this PRU, you will deliver KS4 English to small class groups of up to 12 students, supported closely by a dedicated Teaching Assistant. Your responsibilities will also include:
* Acting as a Form Tutor, offering consistent pastoral support and fostering strong, positive relationships.
* Leading targeted English interventions to boost individual progress and confidence.
* Delivering PSHE lessons that help students develop key life skills and support their personal development.
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and solid experience teaching KS4 English.
* Prior experience within a PRU or alternative provision, working with learners who present complex needs or challenging behaviour.
* Strong behaviour management strategies, resilience, and the ability to inspire and engage reluctant learners.
* A compassionate, patient approach and the ability to build trust with vulnerable young people.
Learners within the PRU have often encountered significant barriers to success in mainstream education. Many have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, requiring a tailored and consistent approach. They thrive in settings where patience, structure, and positive reinforcement underpin daily practice.
* Small class sizes with high levels of support, enabling personalised teaching that truly makes a difference.
* A supportive, collaborative team who are deeply committed to improving outcomes for all students.
* A genuinely rewarding role, where your work has impact each and every day—helping young people re‑engage, progress, and prepare for future opportunities.
If you have the passion, experience, and commitment to excel in this impactful role, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for the position.
Become part of a dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting young people towards brighter, more positive futures.
