Based in our Manchester office you will be part of a hardworking and growing team of Transport & Infrastructure Engineers/Consultants. Our office is located within an excellent area, easily accessible from local stations, with available parking nearby. You will work with other offices across the country as part of a wider national team to drive successful delivery of projects and uphold our core business values.
Project Portfolio
 * Various Local Authority framework commissions
 * Active Travel commissions
 * Infrastructure development work including S278, S38 and S104
 * A variety of mixed‑use residential development projects
 * Flood risk assessments
 * Technical and construction assurance
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 * Implement project requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards.
 * Collate project information, liaise and engage with clients and third parties as required.
 * Supervise site‑based projects as required.
 * Lead project delivery and supervise and delegate to junior members of staff and others as required.
 * Check / approve own and other staff work, including third‑party design proposals.
 * Integrate successfully into an established team and drive the team culture.
 * Provide directions to junior members of the team to support their development and achieve competent delivery.
 * Carry out work within own discipline area and collaborate with others as required for assigned projects as delegated by the Project Manager.
Qualifications
 * BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
 * MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) – Preferred.
 * Association of Project Management Qualification (or equivalent).
 * Professional membership or accreditation to ICE, CIHT or APM.
Experience
 * Significant experience in engineering and design management of projects to time, cost and quality.
 * Proven experience in highway design, construction, and supervision.
 * Detailed knowledge of highway design standards, construction practices, asset management, and relevant legislation.
 * Demonstrate a good understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities.
 * Undertake day‑to‑day management and leadership of project design, including overseeing designs produced by consultants and managing input from other disciplines.
 * Demonstrate knowledge and experience of developing design solutions to traffic / local road problems such as alignment, drainage, pavement, road restraint system, road signs & markings.
 * Use of Common Data Environments & BIM levels & strategy.
 * Horizontal & vertical alignment design in AutoCAD & Civil 3D.
 * Singing & lining designs to TSRGD.
 * Pavement & footway designs.
 * Drainage design.
Preferred Experience
 * Experience in managing project workloads, finances, and ensuring compliance with briefs and financial constraints.
 * Development of Highways Specifications including MCHW.
 * Utility coordination and clash detection.
 * Management of project teams.
 * Experience mentoring and developing less experienced staff, and the ability to build effective working relationships.
 * Sound understanding of commercial management and business focus.
 * The ability to work under pressure, with good organisational skills and the ability to plan, organise and manage a complex workload, with shifting deadlines to meet specific targets.
 * Experience of working in a complex fast‑paced design and project/programme management environment, ideally in infrastructure or a related field and evidence of delivering sustainable results in a large organisation.
 * Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify and deliver outcomes‑focused solutions to complex situations.
 * Ability to design highway engineering solutions, analyse complex information, and use relevant software for modelling and analysis.
 * Development of Highways Specifications.
 * Civils 3D.
 * Ideally good experience of drainage design and use of analytical modelling tools.
 * Clear, confident, and enthusiastic communication skills, both written and oral, to explain complex data to non‑specialist audiences and stakeholders.
 * A commitment to continuous professional development and embodying organisational values and behaviours.
 * Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
 * Client liaison and management.
