Responsibilities
* Identify patients with increasing risk drinking behaviour to reduce admissions or attendance to Accident and Emergency (A+E).
* Attend A+E and Emergency Floor to give Alcohol Brief Intervention Advice (ABIA) to those with alcohol-related issues or attendances.
* Identify patients who are alcohol dependent and are seeking detoxification and rehab in a community setting and refer.
* Identify those with a medical need for detox, monitor and support on the wards with timely referral to community support services.
* Provide support to friends and family of problem drinkers and signpost to services.
* Liaise with appropriate services such as Mental Health and homelessness services.
* Liaise with wards and provide teaching to staff regarding alcohol misuse and follow up patients admitted from the assessment areas.
* Coordinate holistic packages of care through appropriate liaison with other members of the MDT.
Requirements
* We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration.
* If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
