Associate Structural Engineer
Cardiff – Commutable from Swansea, Newport, Pontcanna, Canton, and Roath
£60,000 - £75,000 + Hybrid Working + Tier 1 Consultancy + Autonomy + Major National Projects
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Associate Structural Engineer to join a highly regarded Civil & Structural team in Cardiff. This is a key leadership role focused on project delivery, management, and business development.
You’ll be part of a growing national Civil & Structural division (250+ staff) while working closely with a multidisciplinary regional office in Cardiff (90+ staff across MEP, Fire, Acoustics, Geo, Transport, Energy and Sustainability).
The Role
As an experienced structural engineering designer, you will:
* Lead project delivery, overseeing all aspects including resourcing and commercial management.
* Manage and mentor engineers and technicians, promoting design innovation, sustainability and technical excellence.
* Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards in line with quality assurance and health & safety procedures.
* Take responsibility for management areas including:
* Resource planning
* Staff HR issues and team development
* Identifying and resolving team challenges
* Change control and additional fees
* Financial performance and reporting
* Design innovation and divisional initiatives
* Contractual and commercial matters
* Contribute to business development through sales planning, project bids, tender interviews, client management and networking.
* Support marketing materials, business planning and financial budgeting.
About You
* MEng or BEng in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering.
* Chartered (or working towards) with IStructE or ICE.
* Significant experience in building structures and development design.
* Strong technical design and drawing skills, including hand calculations.
* Proficient in analysis and design software packages.
* Understanding of BIM requirements up to and including Level 2.
* Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills.
* Ability to contribute to business development and client relationships.
