Garment Technologist & Production Coordinator

We’re looking for a Garment Technologist & Production Coordinator with impeccable attention to detail to join our small team to oversee the development and production of garments from sampling to bulk delivery. You will be a technical wizard, offering guidance and solutions to overcome fit and production challenges.


Garment Tech Support

* Provide pattern development suggestions with a technical eye for construction, balance, and fit
* Collaborate with the Production Manager/Product Development Manager and Senior Designer to ensure garment feasibility and construction quality
* Measure new samples and check against requested specifications prior to fit sessions
* Organise and manage the sample fit schedule in line with the critical path
* Coordinate and lead fit sessions, recording detailed comments and relaying these promptly to factories and suppliers
* Ensure all required amendments are actioned following sample reviews
* Create and approve graded specs for new and updated garments
* Populate size charts for each garment on the website, with support from the Production Assistant
* Maintain consistency in grading, sizing, and quality across the range
* Check and approve pre-production and production samples, noting any construction or measurement issues
* Support with product testing (wash tests or wearer trials), providing feedback to factories and suppliers with suggestions for improvement
* Liaise with the customer service team on feedback and returns, reporting insights and recommending fit improvements
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fabrics, trims, and construction techniques to advise the design and production teams
* Help implement and maintain best practices for production and technical processes
* Organise and maintain technical packs, graded specs, fabrics, and trims, with support from the Production Assistant


Production & Product Development Support

* Support with the creation of tech packs for manufacturers, ensuring accuracy in specifications and construction details, with support from the Design Assistant
* Review and update tech packs throughout the sampling process as required
* Update the critical path document and log development samples
* Monitor critical path dates to ensure samples are delivered on time, flagging delays and updating the Production Manager on changes
* Support the Production Manager with updating internal documents
* Monitor and help resolve production issues as they arise
* Communicate with factories and suppliers to resolve issues, share amendments, and maintain timelines
* Manage daily communication with suppliers, ensuring queries are answered or forwarded to the relevant manager
* Raise purchase orders and job sheets, and maintain the purchase order log


Sample Management Support

* Track new samples from suppliers and update the team on arrivals
* Chase samples, ex-factory dates, and bulk production updates with factories and suppliers
* Review TOP samples and update the TOP sample log with detailed comments
* Flag construction or measurement issues to factories, suppliers, or the wider team promptly
* Organise and label samples, maintaining a tidy sample stock room and rails in the office, with support from the Production Assistant


Requirements

* At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
* Keen eye for technical detail and strong knowledge of garment fit
* Experience fitting garments, including identifying and troubleshooting fit issues
* Excellent understanding of patterns and garment construction
* Strong knowledge of pattern grading, with the ability to create and approve grading charts
* Basic/moderate understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
* Impeccable written English, with excellent literacy and communication skills
* Strong organisational skills
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a small team
* Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently
* Proactive, with strong initiative and problem-solving skills
* Able to stay calm under pressure and juggle multiple tasks confidently


Beneficial

* Able to create detailed, accurate garment CADs/technical flats
* Experience using the Shopify platform
* Experience working for a small fashion brand
* Interest in alternative fashion
