Job Description:
We have an interesting opportunity for two Structural Integrity Engineers to join our new office opening in Cardiff. As a structural integrity engineer, you will engage primarily in structural integrity assessments including primary strength, fatigue, fatigue crack growth, and fracture assessments, in accordance with ASME III and R6 defect tolerance assessment code. You will support a wide range of programmes from in-service support, new build, and future programmes. Additionally, you will build and maintain Finite Element Analyses (FEA) models to extract stresses used in component justification.

Responsibilities:
* Undertake mechanical assessments, including linear and non-linear finite element analyses
* Utilize hand calculations, commercial FEA tools (mainly Abaqus), and bespoke analysis codes
* Develop and substantiate component designs, support through-life management, and submarine enterprise support
* Develop methodologies for assessing submarine nuclear plant components
* Communicate assessment outcomes effectively to diverse audiences within Rolls-Royce, industry partners, and customers
Candidate Profile:
* Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering, physics, or mathematics
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
* Interest and expertise in structural integrity analysis
Desirable skills include knowledge of failure mechanisms, experience with finite element methods (especially Abaqus), safety-critical component support, and professional membership or working toward chartership. Applicants must hold UK nationality and be able to obtain UK security clearance.
