THE ROLE
Limbs & things are continually looking to improve our production processes, incorporating the latest technologies to ensure we are producing parts of the highest quality. The Production Engineer (Mechanical) is a important role in allowing us to do this. They work within the team that defines the processes and procedures for how our products are manufactured. The primary purpose of the role is to provide first-line support and diagnosis for operational issues and aid the growth of the manufacturing and production section of the company. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving on-time delivery of customer orders and helping grow the capacity and performance of production activities.
Day to day the Production Engineer (Mechanical) will be supporting production to provide technical expertise, diagnosing, and solving problems. A large proportion of their time will be spent on the shop floor working with production, production engineering, and quality to keep the production cells running efficiently. They will be looking for opportunities to improve and standardise existing processes to improve quality and efficiency whilst reducing costs.
The Production Engineer will also provide support for New Product Introduction supporting on production design and setup, and the identification of any new production/test equipment required to support a right-first-time philosophy.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
We are looking for a Production Engineer to work closely with Production Supervisors, Quality, and other departments to define best practices and critical processes, ensuring these are accurately recorded.
You will review production capabilities, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency, including mitigating bottlenecks and recommending process changes. The role involves reviewing processes in the ERP system, applying problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis and PFMEAs, and designing or building assembly fixtures, production equipment, and shop floor improvements.
You will support the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new equipment in conjunction with Maintenance, contribute to New Product Introductions by developing production processes and work instructions, and support internal activities such as change requests and CAPAs. Coordination with external suppliers for equipment supply and service work is also required.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS
* HNC or equivalent in Manufacturing/Production, or Lean Industrial experience.
* Engineering experience in assembly, plastics, or low-volume batch production environments.
* Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement techniques, and quality systems (ISO9001, 6 Sigma).
* Experience with injection moulding or plastics production, including process evaluation, improvement and leading PFMEA's
* Competence in CAD (SolidWorks or similar) and practical workshop skills.
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems, planned preventative maintenance, and project management.
* Capable of producing working drawings to support fixture design and manufacture.
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team leadership skills; able to work independently and influence other.
