Learning Support Assistant
Not the usual learning support assistant position. This company is looking for someone to join them in a unique, purpose-driven role as an interest led learning facilitator, supporting a sensitive and empathetic young person in their family home. This is a part-time, long-term opportunity, designed for those who are passionate about partnership, empowerment, and nurturing authentic relationships.
Your Mission:
*
Build a foundation of relational safety and trust with the young person and the family, always honouring their autonomy, privacy, and boundaries.
*
Facilitate interest-led, play-based experiences—such as Lego, gaming, animal-related activities, baking, and sensory exploration—guided entirely by the young person’s passions and capacity.
*
Respond flexibly and compassionately to the young person’s changing needs, always prioritising well-being, agency, and self-determination over external expectations.
*
Communicate holistically, listening deeply to all forms of expression and ensuring the young person’s voice is central and respected at every step.
*
Partner closely with the young person’s primary parent, recognising their expertise and role as the young person’s most trusted advocate, and fostering a collaborative, transparent relationship.
*
Uphold the dignity and privacy of the entire household, with a steadfast commitment to respectful boundaries and trust-building.
What We’re Looking For:
*
Experience (professional or lived) supporting neurodivergent young people with complex SEND, health needs and a history of trauma, always from a place of respect and understanding.
*
A reflective, nurturing, and intrinsically motivated approach—valuing curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to continuous and always child-led learning.
*
Strong advocacy skills, with a deep belief in human rights, equity, and social justice.
*
Expertise in neuroaffirming and trauma-responsive practice, with a focus on empowerment and safety-building.
*
Exceptional emotional intelligence, deep listening skills, and a calm, reassuring presence.
*
A long-term, reliable commitment to partnership and relationship-building.
Why Join Them?
*
Profound purpose: In this unique role you can make a meaningful difference in a young person’s life, supporting recovery and growth through authentic connection.
*
High autonomy: Co-create a support model that is truly collaborative and led by the young person’s interests and needs.
*
Collaborative respect: Become a valued partner in a close-knit family that prioritises mutual respect, open communication, and empowerment.
*
Specialist training and CPD opportunities, working alongside a dedicated and skilled team.
*
Competitive hourly rate: £25–£30 per hour (umbrella rate), reflecting the specialist nature of this interest-led learning facilitator position.
*
Flexible working hours (10 hours per week initially), with the potential to increase over time.
