We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Locum Community Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in London. This role involves working with adults who have acquired neurological diagnoses, providing essential support for those with dysphagia and communication impairments. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality of life for patients within the community, particularly those with eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties secondary to dementia.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a caseload of adults with acquired neurological conditions.
2. Provide expert assessment and intervention for dysphagia and communication impairments.
3. Develop and implement individualized care plans.
4. Conduct home visits across Lewisham.
5. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
6. Provide support and education to patients and their families, promoting safe swallowing and communication strategies.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Registration with the HCPC
* Experience working with adults with acquired neurological diagnoses
* Expertise in managing dysphagia and communication impairments
* Experience with eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties secondary to dementia
* Experience in a community multidisciplinary setting
* Ability to conduct home visits (car driver preferred, but public transport acceptable)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Flexibility and adaptability
