We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Main Theatres and the Surgical Day Case Unit (SDCU) at Weston General Hospital.
This is a unique and rewarding role where you’ll support patients at most vulnerable – before, during, and after surgery. Compassion, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential qualities for this position.
You will be required to work a range of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, to support the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB:
* Patient support both physical and emotional
* Preparing equipment and setting out instruments for surgery
* Keeping theatres fully stocked
* Unloading and moving equipment
* Circulating duties during the operation including counting swabs or other instruments
* Tidying up and cleaning after each case, disposing of waste correctly
* Monitor and record patient's vital signs, reporting and escalating findings in a timely manner
* Transferring patients to and from theatres
* Helping to move patients on trolleys as well as on and off the operating table
* Work on our DCU Ward and Theatre Receiving Unit

Qualifications & Training
* Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths (or equivalent)
* E Level 3 (SCQF – 6): City and Guilds 3 NVQ 3 BTEC National Diploma
* Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker)
Skills & Abilities
* Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
* Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
* Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting
* Committed to providing high quality patient care
* Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
* Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
* Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given time frames
* Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across wards/unit dependent on clinical need
