Job Description
I’m supporting a long-standing client in Leeds, a specialist RF/microwave engineering manufacturer delivering high-performance filters, SSPAs and mmWave subsystems into space, defence and advanced communications. They’re continuing to expand their filter capability and are now looking for a Junior RF Filter Engineer to join their established RF/microwave design group.
This Junior RF Filter Engineer role is ideal for someone early in their career who has a solid grounding in RF/microwave fundamentals and wants to develop hands-on expertise in filter design, simulation, tuning and validation while working alongside experienced senior engineers.
Role Overview – Junior RF Filter Engineer
You’ll contribute across the full design cycle — concept, simulation, prototyping, documentation, NPI support, validation and production tuning — gaining exposure to real hardware and complex high-frequency systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Support RF/microwave filter and subsystem design activities (simulation, prototyping, validation)
* Contribute to R&D efforts on next-generation filter technologies
* Compile and review design documentation including logbooks, data packs and peer reviews
* Assist in preparing tollgate and NPI documentation in line with internal processes
* Support verification/validation tasks including test specs, test reports and reliability checks
* Assist production engineering with tuning, root-cause analysis and corrective action proposals
* Work closely with mechanical engineering colleagues to deliver efficient, manufacturable filter solutions
Requirements
* Degree (or equivalent) in RF/Microwave Engineering or related field
* Understanding of microwave filter theory and design principles
* Some practical experience with RF/microwave design tools (e.g., Microwave Office, CST Studio)
* Ability to analyse requirements and contribute to effective design solutions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Comfortable working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
* Able to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
