Job responsibilities
* Inaccordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder willmake themselves available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealingwith queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
* Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within theorganisation
* Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
* Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Inconsultation with patients and in line with current Practice diseasemanagement protocols, developing care plans for health
* Providingcounselling and health education
* Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to othercare providers as appropriate
* Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Collectingdata for audit purposes
* Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
* Prescribingin accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically)whenever this is clinically appropriate
* Ingeneral the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primarycare.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of continued professional development
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
* Experience of medicines management
* Experience of CCG initiatives
Qualifications
* Qualified GP
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
* MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
