Geo-Environmental / Geotechnical Consultant: Fantastic opportunity within a small team at a leading, Medium-sized Geo-Environmental Consultancy. This role is based in Bristol.

Overview
Our client is part of a leading consulting and engineering company who provide solutions for public and private clients world-wide, while working on some of most challenging and complex projects from conception to completion.
They are seeking a highly motivated Geo-Environmental / Geotechnical Consultant with a background that includes supervising exploratory drilling, trial pitting, soil logging, environmental sampling and monitoring and with a track record in data handling, analysis and report writing.
This role would be an excellent fit for an individual looking to further their career in complex site investigation, remediation and project management duties, and within in a small, friendly team who operate with a flat structure to ensure open collaboration between employees and leadership. Alongside travel through the UK, there will also be occasional opportunities for international travel.
Responsibilities
Performing Phase I non-intrusive walkovers, audits and desktop assessments
Safe delivery of site investigations on brownfield sites, both active and vacant
Supervision of specialist subcontractors – drilling companies and plant operators
Geological logging, performing field testing and gathering field data during investigations
Sampling of soils, groundwater and ground gases
Environmental monitoring
Technical writing, data management
Support the tendering team in preparing proposals and site investigation specifications
Manage tasks and projects
Apply quality assurance and quality control processes
Diligent and accurate data gathering
Travel throughout the UK to support their client’s needs. Overseas travel may also be possible as the company has a number of clients and projects in Europe
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Relevant degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
Must have 1-2 years of relevant environmental consulting background
Track record in the delivery of site investigations and supervision of subcontractors
Strong safety background including CSCS card
Soil logging background
Track record in the use of field equipment – PID, gas analyser, interface probes, hand shear vane etc
Strong technical writing, data management, organisational and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software
Valid driving licence (with no major violations)
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in earthworks and remediation projects
Background in using computer aided drawing software and geotechnical data management software
Background in environmental risk assessment – human health and controlled waters;
Background in Project Management – company training will be provided to any future candidate;
Safety qualifications / training – use of CAT and genny, CITB Site Supervisor, asbestos awareness etc.
