Purpose and Scope of the Role
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Graduate Planner to join the Water Team in Newcastle supporting AMP8 and AMP9 frameworks across the UK. You will develop, maintain and monitor project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, coordinate construction inputs, produce progress reporting and support project controls under NEC3/4 contracts. Daily activities include schedule development, earned‑value and risk analysis, site progress reviews and liaison with project teams on multi‑million pound capital delivery projects.
Your Impact in This Position
You will immediately improve schedule accuracy and reporting clarity, enabling better decision making on live projects. Over 12–24 months you will take ownership of defined workstreams, lead programme updates, support change control and cost forecasting, and contribute to mitigation strategies. Longer term there is scope to progress to a more senior planner across national water programmes.
Core Capabilities
* Primavera P6 proficiency – Demonstrable ability to create, update and manage detailed schedules, baselines and resource profiles using Primavera P6.
* Project controls & analysis – Competence in earned value management, cost forecasting, change control, risk assessment and concise schedule analysis.
* Construction sequencing & logic – Clear understanding of design, construction and commissioning sequences to define critical paths and assess delay impacts.
* Communication & stakeholder engagement – Able to present schedule information clearly to project teams and clients, lead programme reviews and support collaborative decision making.
* Data integrity & problem solving – Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to identify trends, anomalies and pragmatic mitigation measures.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Expected: bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and valid UK driving licence. Desirable: PMI‑SP, PSP or equivalent planning certification and prior exposure to water or infrastructure projects.
Work Patterns & Locations
Hybrid role based in Newcastle; typical office attendance 2–3 days per week. Flexible working considered.
