A leader in life sciences is looking to recruit a Refrigeration Design Engineer to design refrigeration systems. Based in Essex, you will benefit from a starting salary of up to £50k plus enhanced pension, private medical insurance and excellent career opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Designing ultra-low temperature refrigeration systems using agile development methods.
* Using simulation and modelling to validate performance and reduce prototyping costs.
* Developing and reviewing system and component specifications, ensuring manufacturability and supplier alignment.
* Preparing design documentation to meet ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and internal compliance standards.
* Leading product testing, analysing results, and driving design improvements.
* Researching and proposing innovative, cost-effective refrigeration technologies.
* Supporting field quality investigations and recommending corrective actions.
* Collaborating with manufacturing to ensure product quality and safety.
Key skills
* Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong background in thermodynamics and heat transfer for refrigeration system design.
* Proven experience in product development using tools like DFM, FMEA, and ISO 9001.
* Skilled in mathematical modelling and simplifying complex thermal systems.
* Familiarity with Refprop, Flownex, SolidWorks, Agile methods, and regulated environments.
* Strategic thinker with hands-on delivery focus.
* Innovative and research-driven, with external collaboration experience.
* Analytical, solution-oriented, and committed to project ownership.
