Responsible for the running of the Operation, ensuring that efficiency and performance are maximised, whilst working within the agreed operational targets. Ensuring compliance with all legislative and company standards. Managing all organisational requirements and safe systems of work are adhered to. Working within budgetary constraints and targets whilst improving depot profitability. Attracting new business and retaining current business within the depot.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40-hour week.
Key Duties of a General Manager:
* Ensure all depot operations are carried out in a safe and legal manner.
* Ensure all visiting personnel and staff adhere to The Pallet Network Limited's health & safety policies and operating procedures.
* Suggest improvements to enhance performance and safety.
* Monitor resource management and performance to ensure timely processing of volumes.
* Maintain accuracy across all operational disciplines.
* Research and understand the depot's operating area to maximise revenue opportunities.
* Manage the fleet of vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance requirements are proactively managed.
* Promote a quality mindset to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
* Mentor and develop team members through personal training and development plans.
* Monitor KPI data, analyse trends, and drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and customer service improvements.
* Collaborate with other business areas to promote good working relations and enhance performance.
* Prepare and present reports on operational and financial performance.
* Handle day-to-day enquiries and requests for change from members or other business areas.
* Undertake routine administrative tasks.
* Ensure legal obligations are met in cooperation with the employer.
* Report serious health and safety concerns to the line manager.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times.
* Maintain company property and report faults or incidents.
* Act as the depot’s performance and KPI champion.
* Take responsibility for depot financial performance and efficiency improvements to maximise profitability.
Qualifications
* Transport management experience required.
* International/National CPC certification required.
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
* Ability to manage and work within a team.
* Sales experience in attracting new business and building customer relationships.
* Hands-on management style.
* Understanding of vehicle and MHE maintenance plans.
* Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
* Health and safety knowledge.
