Join Our Team as a Technical Support Engineer at Norwich Depot.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Technical Advisor to act as the single point of contact for technical support across our engineering functions. In this pivotal role, you’ll make safe, informed decisions to maintain fleet safety and reliability, liaising closely with the Engineering Technical team, Fleet Service Delivery, and the operating railway.
You’ll lead investigations into safety incidents and recurring technical faults, ensure accurate record-keeping, and provide expert on-call support during major incidents. Using data insights and engineering expertise, you’ll identify performance risks, resolve technical issues, and drive continuous improvement in fleet safety and service delivery
Key Responsibilities
· Lead technical investigations into safety and performance incidents using onboard systems (OTMR, CCTV, RTM) to establish root causes, support delay attribution, and drive maintenance simplification.
· Collaborate with Train Maintainers, OEMs, and Service Delivery teams to resolve technical issues, oversee repeat failures, authorise return-to-service, and support joint investigations or trials.
· Conduct and report on maintenance and modification audits, ensuring compliance, identifying risks, and implementing improvement actions.
· Make risk-based engineering decisions in line with the company’s Safety Management System, including approving concessions and managing CAPAs and Non-Conformances.
· Develop and maintain technical documentation, such as engineering procedures, risk assessments, and technical briefs, while providing expert technical support during incidents, inquiries, and hearings.
