We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our team at a reputable carpet & flooring store in Newport. As a vital member of our team, you will assist customers in selecting carpets, rugs, and various wall and floor coverings, providing exceptional service and contributing to the store's success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Welcome and engage customers as they explore our selection of carpets, rugs, and wall and floor coverings.
* Provide detailed product information on our range of carpets, rugs, wallpaper, flooring, and other coverings, including materials, designs, and installation options.
* Help customers choose products that match their style preferences, enhance their decor, and meet their functional needs.
* Measure spaces accurately to estimate the quantity of carpet, rugs, or coverings needed and provide pricing quotes.
* Efficiently process sales transactions using our point-of-sale (POS) system, handling payments and issuing receipts.
* Maintain appealing displays of carpets, rugs, and coverings to showcase a variety of styles, colors, and textures.
* Address customer inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email, offering information on products, pricing, installation services, and design advice.
* Coordinate with the installation team to schedule fittings, deliveries, and installations for customers.
* Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally, ensuring timely resolution and escalating complex issues to the store manager if necessary.
* Stay informed on industry trends, new products, and promotions to provide customers with informed recommendations and enhance their shopping experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous retail experience, preferably in carpet, rug, or flooring sales.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Knowledge of carpet and covering materials, patterns, and installation techniques.
* Ability to accurately measure spaces and provide pricing estimates.
* Proficiency in using POS systems and basic computer skills.
* Team player with a positive attitude and a passion for interior design.
* Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
