Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Downland School - Full-time
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join Downland School, a co-educational community special school supporting pupils aged 10–16.
All pupils have an EHCP, with primary needs relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), alongside additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and attachment or conduct difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs in and out of the classroom
* Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to support engagement
* Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
* Help manage behaviour in a calm, consistent, and supportive manner
* Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
