Wycliffe College is seeking an exceptional Deputy Head (Pastoral) to oversee boarding, co-curricular welfare, safeguarding, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing, across the whole College. Reporting to the Head of College and a member of the College’s Leadership Team, the successful applicant will provide inspiring, strategic leadership of Wycliffe’s pastoral provision, playing a pivotal role in evolving and strengthening the College’s pastoral culture. This high profile leadership position is suited to an experienced educational professional who can demonstrate strong strategic leadership, sound judgement, and a proven ability to lead and develop teams across multiple pastoral and safeguarding domains. The successful candidate will hold a degree, with a postgraduate qualification in education, leadership, or a related field being desirable, and safeguarding training suitable for senior leadership. They will demonstrate strong knowledge of safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, behaviour management, and equality, diversity, and inclusion. Excellent strategic leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and high emotional intelligence, empathy, and resilience are essential. Boarding school experience and familiarity with inspection processes would be advantageous. Terms of Appointment This is a permanent “live in” position offered on a full-time basis during school term time. When resident on site, additional duties include providing emergency cover for absent boarding staff. We can provide accommodation that would be appropriate for a family.
