Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the SSEN Large Capital Delivery Directorate. The role reports to the Procurement & Commercial Manager and will provide pre‑ and post‑contract procurement and commercial support to a variety of projects, including complex large capital projects.
Responsibilities
* Manage the tender process for projects from invitation to tender through to contract award and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase, including management of commercial staff.
* Procure essential work scopes at lowest cost of ownership in line with the principle of efficiency and best value, covering all commercial, business and legal project risks in contracts.
* Negotiate terms and conditions within own area of responsibility to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of the contract.
* Support cost estimating and forecasting to required standard and accuracy.
* Provide robust post‑contract commercial management services.
* Deliver a world‑class procurement and commercial service to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with internal controls and capital project governance and commercial manuals.
Qualifications
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification together with demonstrable experience of managing contracts on large capital or programmes of work.
* Knowledge of the Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 and Procurement Act 2023.
* Understanding of commercial governance arrangements for development and execution of large capital projects, including commercial, contract or cost experience in delivering projects.
* Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management and contract administration.
* Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements, and experience of working with NEC contracts.
