My client is seeking an ambitious and talented Credit Risk practitioner to join their team in Manchester, as a Senior Analyst or Manager (dependent upon experience). Role Summary: The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will help to oversee the credit strategy across three regional hubs located in the UK, Europe, and Asia. You will be responsible for ensuring effective risk management practices across the onboarding, underwriting and review/monitoring teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory and scheme requirements, mitigating risks associated with merchant acquiring, and playing a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and stability of our merchant risk operations. Key Responsibilities: Help to define and optimise the credit risk strategy for an evolving merchant portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and liaising across regional hubs as required Create Credit Risk Policy and Non Delivery Exposure calculations for use in onboarding and continual monitoring Support the development and implementation of frameworks to guide the onboarding, underwriting, and review/monitoring processes, fostering a strong risk-aware culture Develop credit exposure assessment methodologies, risk mitigation measures and detailed credit risk assessment protocols for new and existing merchants Discover insights from data, producing meaningful management information and insights to senior management on operational performance Manage Credit Risk Bureau Alerting and act accordingly Assist with Negative Balance/Credit Control Management as required Monitor and assess the success of risk management processes, continuously identifying further opportunities for improvement and reporting / implemented Experience Required: Ability to understand and work with numbers effectively; being able to read and understand the financial statements of the business Can act upon and analyse Credit Risk Bureau alerting and taking appropriate actions Proficiency in analytical tools like Excel and SQL (Python is welcome) Experience in a financial services environment, ideally payments/acquiring, with a focus on various aspects of risk management, onboarding, underwriting and monitoring Experience of liaising with geographically dispersed teams across multiple regions Understanding of card schemes and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills; naturally inquisitive and truth-seeking attitude, with an inclination to challenge the status quo Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment If this sounds like it could be of interest to you, please apply and I'll look forward to receiving your application - or alternatively, for further information, please contact Terry Wetters (Founder / Director): 07891 708 941 / terry@barleycorn.io
