Overview
An exciting maternity cover opportunity has arisen for an experienced RMN within the Perinatal Mental Health Team. The post is available within our Cluster 3 team covering North Manchester, Tameside, Glossop, Oldham, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. We are seeking a compassionate, person‑centred individual with a genuine interest in working with women and birthing people in the perinatal period, who has excellent communication and multi‑agency liaison skills. The Perinatal Service is commissioned to support women and birthing people throughout Greater Manchester who experience moderate to severe mental health problems during and after pregnancy and up to the infant’s first year of life. The post holder should hold a valid driving licence.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of women and birthing people experiencing perinatal mental illness as a Perinatal Practitioner.
* Provide routine and urgent assessments of women’s mental health, risk and safeguarding.
* Co‑ordinate complex packages of care for mother/birthing person and infant in partnership with service users and other professionals.
* Collaborate closely with Early Attachment services, IAPT services, maternity services, health visiting and children’s services.
* Participate in the duty worker rota as required.
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification (RMN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or equivalent).
* Post‑registration development and evidence of ongoing professional education.
* Recent experience of providing mental health care in an inpatient or community setting, or a generic CMHT, demonstrating an understanding of risk management.
* Experience working within a perinatal service and with women in the perinatal period (desirable).
* Specialised experience in perinatal mental health (desirable).

Salary and Contract
Band 6 – £38,682 to £46,580 a year pro rata. Fixed‑term contract, 12 months, part‑time.
