Cornerstone Fitout is a leading and rapidly growing construction consultancy based in the heart of Preston. We specialise in delivering high-quality, innovative retail and hospitality projects for a diverse range of clients, from high-street brands to unique independent restaurants. Due to continued success and an exciting pipeline of new projects, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team.
The Role:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end financial and contractual management of multiple shop fitting and restaurant projects. You will work closely with our clients, main contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget and to the highest commercial standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for retail and hospitality fit-out projects.
Conduct thorough cost planning and value engineering exercises.
Manage the procurement process, including sourcing and appointing subcontractors.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts.
Manage and control project cash flow, including cost reporting and forecasting.
Administer contracts (JCT/NEC), identifying and managing variations, claims, and potential disputes.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify work against valuations.
Provide proactive financial advice and reporting to clients and senior management.
Ensure all commercial risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
What We're Looking For (The Ideal Candidate):
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a significant portion within the shop fitting and restaurant/hospitality sector.
A relevant degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (RICS accreditation is a plus).
A strong understanding of the unique challenges and fast-paced nature of fit-out projects.
Excellent knowledge of construction contracts (JCT/NEC).
Highly proficient in cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
A confident negotiator with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commercially driven, proactive, and able to work autonomously.
Must be able to work from our Preston office with travel to sites as required.
