Group Finance Controller - GBP60,000 - Leeds City Centre
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role is vital for maintaining the financial health of the organisation and involves collaborating across departments to support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
1. Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts for the Executive Board.
2. Oversee accounts payable processes to ensure timely payments and accurate record-keeping, including purchase ledger runs and ad hoc payments/internal transfers.
3. Implement and maintain effective financial management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
4. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to guide business decisions related to P&L, cash flow, and the balance sheet.
5. Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure all documentation is prepared.
6. Utilise accounting software such as Sage and Xero to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
7. Reconcile sales invoices monthly and support the fee process, overseeing the WIP document and process.
8. Manage banking tasks, including bank reconciliations.
9. Handle intercompany invoicing and payments.
10. Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance and filings (including VAT and Corporation Tax).
11. Manage payroll for 3 companies using Sage Payroll, ensuring payroll and tax journals are accurately posted and liabilities recorded.
12. Administer trustee pension schemes, including payroll for retirees and other payments/arrangements.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role; construction industry experience is advantageous.
2. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
3. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage and Xero.
4. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Exceptional communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders.
7. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) are advantageous.
