The Hub @ Toothill CIC is a community-led, non-profit transforming the former Village Tavern into a vibrant family hub. As Treasurer, you'll oversee financial health, diversified income (pub, café, hire), and funding strategy to support a successful 2026 launch.
What difference will you make?
The Treasurer will play a pivotal role in ensuring The Hub @ Toothill CIC launches successfully in 2026 and remains financially sustainable for the long term. As a community-led, non-profit organisation established as the legacy of the Toothill Big Local partnership and its £1 million National Lottery investment, the Hub represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a vibrant, inclusive space for local families and residents. Strong financial oversight is essential to protect that legacy.
This role will directly strengthen the Board's ability to make informed, strategic decisions. By maintaining a clear overview of income, expenditure, cash flow and reserves, the Treasurer will help ensure that the organisation operates responsibly and transparently. Their guidance will support the development of realistic budgets, robust financial controls, and clear reporting processes that build confidence among funders, partners, and the wider community.
The Treasurer will also work closely with the CEO to support robust financial forecasting. This includes modelling different income scenarios, assessing risk, and planning for both short-term operational needs and longer-term growth. By providing constructive challenge and financial insight, the Treasurer will help the CEO test assumptions, plan sustainably, and align financial projections with the organisation's strategic goals.
In the immediate term, the Treasurer will help shape a financially viable launch model based on a lean staffing structure and a wet-led pub operation, alongside a part-time café and community activities. Their insight will help the Board balance ambition with affordability, ensuring that early operations are stable and well-managed. This careful stewardship will reduce risk and increase the likelihood of long-term success.
Looking ahead, the Treasurer will help unlock the Hub's diversified income potential — including pub revenue, café income, space hire, grants, and community fundraising. By supporting funding strategies and long-term financial planning, they will enable the organisation to grow its offer over time, including the future expansion of food provision and wider social, arts, and wellbeing activities requested by the community.
Ultimately, this role will help safeguard a vital community asset and ensure it becomes a sustainable, welcoming hub that reduces isolation, strengthens community connection, and creates opportunities for people of all ages. The Treasurer's contribution will protect a significant community investment, build organisational resilience, and help transform a former pub into a thriving centre for social and economic wellbeing.
