About the Role
A welcoming school in the historic city of Norwich is looking for a dedicated Caretaker / Site Assistant to join their team immediately.
As the face of the site, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the school remains a safe, clean, and fully functioning environment where students can thrive. This is a varied role, combining physical work, problem-solving, and health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* General Maintenance: Carry out essential repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
* Site Security: Open and close the school daily, manage alarms, and perform key-holding duties.
* Health & Safety: Conduct regular inspections and maintain accurate records for fire safety, water hygiene (Legionella), and playground equipment.
* Grounds Upkeep: Keep school grounds tidy, manage waste disposal, and complete seasonal tasks such as gritting during winter.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience: Previous experience in caretaking, site management, or trades is highly desirable.
* Reliability: A dependable professional who takes pride in the security of the premises.
* Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with the School Business Manager and cleaning staff.
* DBS: Enhanced DBS check required (assistance with application available if needed).
