About the team:
We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, energetic and clinically confident Perinatal Mental Health Nurse or Allied Health Professional to join our Community Perinatal Teams across the Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark teams due to a newly created role within Southwark and Lambeth Perinatal Community services. You will have experience of general adult inpatient, Mother and Baby inpatient unit, community mental health services or Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). You will also have experience of working with women who suffer from moderate to severe mental illness in the perinatal period.
You will be familiar with Perinatal community standards, governance and performance structures and confident in partnership work with other agencies such as Children and Family Social Services, Midwifery and Obstetric teams, CMHTs, Health Visitors and the Voluntary sector.
You will display excellent clinical knowledge and skilled practice in women with mental health disorders in the perinatal period. You will provide consistently skilled judgments in clinical work. You need to have experience of working in a richly diverse inner city Borough and have the understanding of the opportunities and challenges that this brings.
Main duties of the job
About the role:
Working closely with your colleagues in PMHT’s, you will receive support and be part of the on-going Perinatal workforce training within SLaM and London wide. In addition, you will be part of the Pan London Community Perinatal network. This is a great opportunity to implement evidence based ways of working using best practice and NICE guidelines.
The Perinatal Services provide a Monday to Friday, 9-5 service to people residing within the Boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham, Croydon and Southwark offering assessment, intervention and treatment to birth givers who suffer from moderate to severe mental health disorders in the perinatal period.

About the location:
You will be based at two team bases; Lambeth Perinatal Team at Wooden Spoon House, near Elephant and Castle and Southwark Perinatal Team, near the Maudsley Hospital in Camberwell.
Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
13. RMN or allied health professional with current registration and revalidation.
14. Evidence of on-going professional development.
Experience
Essential criteria
15. Experience of working in an inpatient or community setting
16. Experience of working with Patients with severe and enduring mental health problems
17. Understanding of Mental illness in the Perinatal Period
18. Skills in risk assessment, risk management and crisis management
Desirable criteria
19. Use of evidence-based interventions relating to the care of service users with perinatal mental health problems.
20. Experience of care coordination
Knowledge
Essential criteria
21. Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding policies, local and national.
22. Knowledge of relevant legislation including MHA, Children Act, The Care Act.
23. Knowledge of evidence based interventions for patients with Perinatal Mental Health illness.
