Salary: Starting Salary is £35,235 (Level one) rising to £37,938 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
Would you like to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of Nottingham's communities? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for a Public Health Practitioner to support the work of Nottingham's Joint Health & Wellbeing Strategy which focusses on improving health and reducing health inequalities in Nottingham City.

As a Public Health Practitioner, you will work alongside your colleagues across the public health team and beyond, to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of those in Nottingham who are most vulnerable. You will use a variety of methods to assess and understand their needs, influence and implement strategies, development of health interventions, feed into evaluation of projects and much more! There will be plenty of personal development opportunities, including the possibility of postgraduate study with the University of Nottingham.
We are specifically looking for a Public Health Practitioner to support the implementation and operation of a condom distribution scheme for Nottingham City. The post holder will be vital to the promotion of good sexual health and wellbeing of citizens in Nottingham City and will contribute to the wider Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County plans for sexual and reproductive health. Key duties include the following:
1. To support the development and implementation of key Public Health work streams in Nottingham City whilst ensuring that they deliver Best Value and are cost effective.
2. To contribute to the design and delivery of research and evaluation projects and health promotion and engagement initiatives within the diverse communities of Nottingham City, ensuring they are focussed, positive and productive.
3. To develop and build strong relationships within our diverse communities and with other stakeholders, including the community and voluntary sectors.
4. To assist in the preparation and presentation of briefings reports and presentations, ensuring that the information and evidence, is accurate and current and including recommendations for priorities and future action.
5. To support the team to gather evidence and other intelligence about the effectiveness of Public Health projects, to support co-production and enabling understanding of the needs and perspectives of our communities and to ensure local need is met.
6. To carry out all duties with full regard to the Equality and Diversity policy and ensure they are fully integrated into projects undertaken, including the completion of thorough Equality Impact Assessments where required.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, with a wide range of audiences including colleagues and staff at all levels both within and outside Nottingham City Council.
As this role requires development and delivery of training, experience of delivering training to a variety of audiences, including young people and professionals is essential.
An understanding of what influences the health and wellbeing of Nottingham City's population.
An ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information from various sources.
An ability to work effectively and network with a range of stakeholders including citizens, diverse communities, Councillors, colleagues at all levels within the organisation and partners
A thorough knowledge of national and local policies, drivers and legislation around sexual and reproductive health.
An understanding of why it's important to consider equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
