Business (Finance) Analyst | 12 Month FTC | Finance Transformation (Accounts Processing) | Liverpool | Four days on site | £60k-70k
Let's start with who this is.
£4.5bn turnover business, highly profitable, founder-owned and led. No flashy marketing department. No endless PR. No corporate noise.
They just quietly get on with it.
Why This Role Exists (and why it matters)
* It's a business that has grown phenomenally well but Finance hasn't evolved at the same pace.
* The good news? They know it.
* A new Group Financial Controller is in place. A new Head of Accounts Processing is in place.
There's real appetite for change. What they don't have is bandwidth. And that's where you come in.
The Assignment
* Help turn a hardworking, heads-down processing function into something fit for a £4.5bn business
* The team are flat out posting invoices and raising payments. If something needs improving, documenting, measuring or analysing it all done by the manager, that's not sustainable
What you'll be doing:
* Build KPIs for the processing teams
* Create payment compliance reporting
* Extract and shape data to support the wider business
* Gather requirements for system and process improvements
* Document "as-is" and design "to-be"
* Map processes properly (not just in someone's head)
* Write and coordinate testing scripts
* Track project milestones
* Support governance and control improvements
* There's an ERP change on the horizon in the next couple of years, you'll help lay the groundwork.
* Some of what you do will be BAU improvement, some will be project delivery, all of it will matter
The Environment
* This is a lean business.
* The founder is commercially sharp and understandably cautious about adding permanent headcount. So, this is a 12-month FTC while they reshape and decide what the future structure should look like.
There's backing for change
* You'll need to be hands-on, pragmatic and sensible.
* If you need a committee, a steering group and three layers of approval to update a process map, this won't be for you.
* If you like rolling your sleeves up and quietly fixing things properly, you'll thrive.
What They're Looking For
* Has operated as a Business Analyst in a finance environment
* Understands accounts payable / transactional finance
* Can build structure where there currently isn't much
* Writes clear documentation (that humans can follow)
* Is comfortable pulling data and turning it into something useful
* Can win trust with a long-serving operational team
* Doesn't need corporate fanfare to feel validated
Why This Is Interesting
* A £4.5bn business that still feels owner-led
* Real change, not theoretical "transformation"
* A blank sheet in many areas
* Direct exposure to senior finance leadership
* The chance to materially improve how a major UK retailer operates
