ABOUT YOU
You’re a confident and organised leader with a strong background in laboratory-based work, ideally within chemistry or a closely related field. With experience guiding or supporting teams, you’re comfortable balancing hands-on technical involvement with oversight of people and processes. You communicate clearly, whether you’re supporting colleagues, engaging with clients, or sharing technical insight, and you take pride in maintaining high standards across everything you do. You’re proactive when it comes to developing others, ensuring team members have the knowledge and support they need to succeed, and you’re equally committed to working safely and responsibly in line with established procedures.
Required skills and experience:
1. Degree or similar in chemistry, or relevant experience gained in a related laboratory-based role.
2. Supervisory experience in analytical & material testing environment preferred
3. Good communication skills
4. Experience working in an accredited laboratory would be an advantage.

Key activities:
5. Ensure the daily workload of the team is performed efficiently and effectively, in accordance with both approved technical standards and client instructions
6. Ensuring technical staff receive training consistent with their role and business needs
7. Supervise support with BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 assessments and internal audits.
8. Maintain adherence to all Health Safety and Environmental procedures
9. Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders (advice, quotations) consistent with development of the business
10. Carry out employee performance and training reviews and assign target dates
