About the Role

As a Clinical Imaging Assistant, you will work closely with our nuclear medicine technologists and radiographers, providing a mix of clinical and clerical support. Your responsibilities will include:

* Ensuring equipment is prepared, available and safe for use
* Helping to maintain a well‑organised and safe department
* Assisting patients as they prepare for injections and scans
* Supporting technologists and radiographers during clinical procedures

You’ll play an important part in creating a positive and reassuring experience for our patients, many of whom may feel anxious about their appointments.

No prior experience in nuclear medicine is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. You will receive full training in:

* The principles of Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT
* How radioactivity is safely used to diagnose and treat patients
* Safe working practices within a specialist imaging environment

This role is ideal for someone with an interest in healthcare who enjoys working with people and wants to build knowledge in a unique and rewarding area of clinical imaging.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Imaging Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT department. You will work closely with Nuclear Medicine Technologists, apprentices and administrative staff, contributing to high-quality patient care and efficient service delivery.

* Assist and supervise patients before, during and after scans and procedures
* Provide reassurance, comfort and clear communication to help patients feel at ease
* Offer refreshments such as drinks and meals when needed

Clinical & Departmental Support

* Help with tasks such as moving patients, collecting items or equipment, and transporting blood samples from wards
* Assist with ordering hoists and support safe cleaning practices within the department
* Insert and remove cannulas and take blood samples when trained and requested
* Set up and perform basic equipment testing
* Monitor for any radioactive contamination of rooms or waste and carry out decontamination procedures as required (full training provided)

Administrative Duties

* Carry out clerical tasks such as taking and making phone calls, preparing clinic documentation, and updating whiteboards for upcoming clinics
* Maintain a tidy, well‑organised and well‑stocked environment, including monitoring stock levels, expiry dates and ensuring cupboards and supplies are orderly

This role is varied, hands‑on and central to ensuring patients receive a safe, efficient and positive experience within our service.
