Teacher of English Location: York, North Yorkshire Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum Contract Type: Full Time GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join a Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated educator to deliver high-quality English Literature and Language lessons, starting in September 2025. About the School: The school was graded by Ofsted as ‘Good’ in all areas, where all staff have high expectations of their pupils. The school was also graded as “Outstanding” by SIAMS. Established in the 1800s, the school proudly strives to provide a 21st century education for all their young people. The school offers encouraging learning in a Christian environment, where all students are cared for, respected, and given chances to help others. Home to state-of-the-art facilities, which promotes the school’s curriculum preparation for an appreciation of life in modern Britain. Performing arts, music, dance, and drama, are an essential part of every student's education at both Key Stages 3 and 4. The school currently working with students who have a wide range of additional needs, such as dyslexia, physical disabilities, issues with speech, language, and communication, conditions on the autism spectrum, more general learning difficulties, individuals with rare syndromes, impairments to hearing and vision, and attention deficit disorders Teacher of English responsibilities: Deliver engaging English Literature and Language lessons. Promote a love of reading, writing, and effective communication within a creative and inclusive classroom setting. Promote high standards of achievement through effective classroom management. Contribute to the ongoing development of the English department. Uphold high expectations for behaviour, learning, and academic success. Teacher of English Requirements: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Degree in English. A proven ability to motivate and challenge students. Strong classroom management skills and a passion for education. Have a proven track record of improving attainment levels at GCSE for English Literature and Language. Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
