About Us
Children in Distress is a UK charity with a proud history of supporting children and families facing hardship. From our beginnings in 1990, responding to the crisis in Romania, we now provide strategic grant funding to grassroots projects in the UK and Romania — helping children access wellbeing support, education, life skills, and strong community connections.
The Role
We are looking for a Fundraising & Partnerships Lead to shape and deliver our fundraising activity. This is a key role in a small, committed team — ideal for an experienced fundraiser who enjoys setting direction and building strong relationships.
Year-1 priorities will include:
· Developing a trusts and foundations pipeline and submitting 3–6 high-value applications.
· Securing at least one new corporate partnership.
· Creating a sustainable community fundraising plan to be delivered with staff and volunteers.
What success looks like in 12 months:
· A clear fundraising plan in place, with realistic income targets.
· Strengthened relationships with donors, funders, and partners.
· At least one new multi-year funding commitment secured.
· A growing base of community fundraising activity supported by volunteers.
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll bring:
· 3–5 years' fundraising experience, ideally across trusts, corporates, or major donors.
· Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
· Confidence working independently and managing multiple projects.
· A proactive, creative, and self-motivated approach.
· A full driving licence (some travel involved).
· Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events.
What We Offer
· £21,000–£24,000 (part-time salary for 21 hours per week, equivalent to £35,000–£40,000 FTE)
· Flexible hybrid working, with regular time in York
· 28 days annual leave (pro rata)
· Workplace pension scheme
· Professional development opportunities
· A collaborative, supportive team culture
· The chance to make a meaningful difference for children and families
