This vision is delivered on through the Powys Food Strategy and Action Plan. Within the Powys Food Strategy and Action Plan, Action 31 is to build infrastructure for a local food economy. This role is to contribute towards delivering this action through enabling producers to diversify and expand via a machinery ring.
About the role
We are seeking 2 highly motivated and organised individuals to join our team as Machinery Ring Officers (1 in North Powys and 1 in South Powys). These temporary roles will set up and run the day-to-day operations of the Machinery Ring, ensuring smooth coordination of machinery requests and providing administrative assistance to members. This position will contribute to the continued growth and effectiveness of the Machinery Ring in collaboration with the second Machinery Ring Officer.
Job Description
● Set up and facilitate collaborative sessions with growers and farmers to ensure that procurement of equipment effectively reflects local popular need
● Set up, maintain and update the online borrowing platform MyTurn. Coordinate machinery requests between members.
● Provide administrative support, including developing and maintaining accurate records of machinery usage, member accounts, and service agreements. Monitor the costs, frequency of use and establish user charges to cover ongoing costs.
● Communicate effectively with members, addressing enquiries and providing information regarding machinery availability, rates, and policies.
● Assist in onboarding new members and familiarising them with the Machinery Ring's processes and benefits. This could include organising familiarisation training events in use on market garden or field scale settings
● Promote Powys Machinery Rings to the farming community, including updating online platforms and assisting with communication materials.
● Support the Senior Management team with data entry and report generation as required.
● Establish and organise regular maintenance schedules (based on hours of use) and liaise with service providers.
● Contribute to the overall smooth operation of the Machinery Ring, ensuring member satisfaction and efficient resource allocation.

● Proficient in using spreadsheets and databases E
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with farmers and stakeholders E
● Ability to work independently and as part of a small team E
● Passionate about supporting the agricultural community and understanding of farming practices P
● Experience in an administrative or coordination role P
● Able to drive and have use of your own vehicle for occasional business use. Willing to travel around Powys E
● A desire to support the Cultivate team and Bwyd Powys Food partnership to succeed in the various linked projects E
