Overview
Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? Are you looking to build experience in a specialist education setting before progressing into a career in psychology, education, or therapy?
We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to work within a range of specialist schools and alternative provisions across Guildford, Woking, Camberley, and Godalming.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students aged between 2-18 who require additional support to access learning. Many of the young people you'll work with have a diagnosis such as autism (ASC), ADHD, trauma-related needs or other social, emotional, or mental health barriers to education.
Your role will be vital in helping to create a safe, consistent, and nurturing learning environment. You will:
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small group support in class
* Use de-escalation and behaviour support strategies
* Build trusting relationships with students
* Support teachers in delivering tailored learning
* Help students develop confidence, independence and self-regulation
Qualifications & Experience
* A background or degree in Psychology, Education, or other related fields
* A genuine interest in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support or therapeutic education
* Resilience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Previous experience in care, support work, youth work, or similar (desirable but not essential)
