Responsibilities
* Act as a key point of communication between the Practice and GP Practices within the Primary Care Network and other healthcare organisations.
* Work to the standards and founding principles set by the Practice.
* Provide caring, un-biased and timely support to patients and other individuals accessing the Practice.
* Input data into the patients healthcare record as necessary.
* Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' request appropriately.
* Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
* Keep patients informed of their appointments if they are delayed or cancelled; process personal, telephone and e-reques for appointments.
* Signpost patients, receive, assist and direct them in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
* Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies; read code data on EMIS Web.
* Photocopy documentation as required.
* Perform data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required.
* Direct requests for information (i.e. SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms) to the administrative team.
* Manage all queries efficiently.
* Process incoming mail and electronic mail as appropriate.
* Carry out system searches as requested.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
* Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
* Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
* Maintain the efficient patient records system, including filing and following requests.
Qualifications
* Essential Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* Desirable GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
* Desirable AMSPAR Qualification
* Desirable NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Experience
* Essential Experience of working with the general public
* Essential Experience of administrative duties
* Essential Experience of working in a health care setting
* Desirable Experience of working in a general practice setting
* Desirable Knowledge of medical terminology
* Desirable Experience working with healthcare professionals across the NHS Network
