We're seeking an experienced Complex Care Assistant to support an 18-year-old young man in Ramsgate with autism, learning disabilities, Treacher Collins syndrome with Robin sequence, and complex medical needs.
This is a specialist one-to-one role supporting a young person who is non-verbal, profoundly deaf, and communicates through British Sign Language. You'll provide personal care, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, behavioural support, and help him access the community and enjoy meaningful activities.
He's friendly and outgoing, always eager to share his interests. He loves swimming, bowling, exploring bus and train journeys, and spending time at the park. At home, he finds joy in sensory activities and values structured routines that keep him comfortable. You'll naturally become a trusted part of his life, someone he knows he can rely on and feel safe with.
What You'll Do
* Personal care support, including complex medical care (tracheostomy, PEG feeding).
* Behavioural support: remaining calm, patient, and consistent when behaviours that challenge arise.
* Community access and meaningful activities.
* Building a strong, consistent relationship with someone who communicates non-verbally.
* In this role, understanding is essential. You will observe his patterns, preferences, and communication style.
* Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 3:00pm to 6:00pm (9 hours per week)
* £15.62–£17.52 per hour, depending on experience
* Enhanced rates for bank holidays and festive periods
What We're Looking For
* Experience in complex care, supporting people with disabilities, autism, challenging behaviours, and medical needs.
* Must have medical knowledge or experience with tracheostomy and PEG feeding for safe handling.
* Skilled in behavioural support, de-escalation, non-verbal cues, and staying calm.
* A UK driving license and right to work in the UK are necessary; visa sponsorship isn’t available.
* BSL is desirable but not essential; we offer training funding.
* Calm, patient, reliable individuals familiar with medical and behavioural care.
Why This Role
This role involves working with a single client without facility rotation or frequent handovers, offering experienced professionals depth, continuity, and autonomy. While only 9 hours per week, it offers a competitive rate and the chance to deliver personalised, specialist care.
What We Offer
* Fully funded training through our partner, Continuity Training Academy (you choose what to study).
* BSL training provided.
* Support for Health and Social Care qualifications.
* Pension scheme (The People's Pension).
* 24/7 counselling and support.
* Blue light card (subscription covered).
* DBS assistance.
