A great opportunity for Local or travelling contractors to join a well-established and growing aerospace engineering Company as a Sheet Metal Worker. Working with a range of materials and sheet metal tools and equipment.
The advertised rates are PAYE values. Umbrella option is available. For contractors travelling more than a 90 minute commute each way to the facility, travel and subsistence expenses can be agreed, and, which will be paid weekly on top of wages.
As a proactive and competent member of the team, you will be responsible for the fabrication and final production of complex multiple parts to ensure internal and customer demands are met.
This role requires someone with extensive skills and experience of sheet metal working.
Responsibilities:
Compliance with all procedures and work instructions.
Reading, interpreting and understanding of drawings, work cards, specifications and other relevant technical documents.
Working with materials such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, Jethete, Nimonics and others.
Working with thin gauge material 0.7mm to 1.6mm approx.
Experience of riveting and sealing applications.
Assembly of fabricated and machined parts combined into one assembly.
Use of visual inspection and documentation, working to tight tolerances.
Identification of non-conforming product or process and feedback to the Shift Leader.
Active involvement in Continuous Improvement activities related to production activities.
Provide continued training support as required.
Clocking on and off of all jobs being undertaken.
Identify and communicate improvements to processes or procedures identified during production.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in accordance with 5S protocol.

Hours – Initially: Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Friday: 7:00am – 12:00 pm
(Please be mindful this may move to a 2 shift rotating pattern, which, you must be flexible to do)
Monday to Thursday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, Friday 6:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Monday to Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Skills Required
Use of hand tools to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal
Shaping metal over blocks or forms using hammers
Inspecting, assembling and smoothing seams and joints of welded, brazed or burred surfaces
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Adherence to technical specifications
Follow work to lists to achieve the relevant productivity levels
To achieve right first time on all parts
Abide by all Health and Safety rules and regulations
Strong attention to detail and methodical
Ability to work to instructions with limited supervision
Capable of working in a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team to achieve departmental and business objectives
Qualifications Required
Apprenticeship in Sheet Metal Work – City & Guilds Certification
Advanced Certificate in Fabrication Studies or Level 3 Qualified in Welding & Fabrication
