Fixed Term Salaried GP - Maternity Cover
Due to maternity leave Meanwood Group Practice are looking to recruit a fixed term salaried GP to join our team from August 2026 until (approximately - September 2027). We are looking for 5-8 sessions per week.

Main duties of the job
* Conducting face to face appointments.
* Participating in the on call rota.
* Patient home visits when required (PCN Paramedic supports with these).
* Issue, check and sign prescriptions.
* Admin - arising from caseload. Checking patient test results, referrals, investigations and medical reports etc.
* Occasionally provide support to University Medical Students when on placement (with protected time).
About us
Meanwood Group Practice is a partner led training practice situated in North Leeds. We provide care for approximately 16,000 patients covering a variety of demographics. We are also an active member of the Central North Leeds Primary Care Network (PCN).
We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team of 10 Partners one of which is a clinical pharmacist, 3 Salaried GP's,1 ACP, 6 practice nurses, 1 HCA and 1 Phlebotomist all supported by our experienced management, reception and administrative teams. Our senior partner is Clinical Director of the PCN. The practice provides specialist services for ENT, Minor Surgery and Menopause. We are also a well-established GP training practice.
Job responsibilities
* Undertake a variety of duties, including face to face consultations and some telephone consultations.
* Share of the on-call duty doctor rota.
* Visiting patients at home when required.
* Checking and signing repeat prescriptions when required.
* Dealing with tasks, queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
* Providing counselling and health education.
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
* In general, the post‑holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

* GMC registration
