We are delighted to be able to offer some unique opportunities for some highly motivated, ambitious individuals to join our well-integrated team. There are multiple fellow posts in Anaesthesia and ITU available from August 2026 for 12 months.
The successful candidate will work on our on-call rotas covering CEPOD, Intensive Care and Labour ward and there will be an opportunity to work in all areas of clinical anaesthesia during this post.
The duties of the post meet the requirements as detailed by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The 2021 RCoA Anaesthetics curriculum will be followed. The duties will include pre, peri and post-operative management of surgical patients, assisting with care of the patients on the ICU, and provision of assistance with resuscitation calls.
Our fellowships include a Simulation Fellow (a separate application), Perioperative Fellow, Bariatric Fellow and Regional Anaesthetic/Enhanced Recovery Fellow. All fellowships would include dedicated clinical and non-clinical time to develop skills in these areas of anaesthesia/ICU.
This post will offer training opportunities as per the Royal College of Anaesthetists training guidance.

• Teaching - the postholder may be involved in teaching other doctors and medical students, nurses and other paramedical staff in the team in speciality and special interest
The post holder will also be expected to participate in the on-call rotas on appointment. The department manages 3 tiers of cover – Theatres, Obstetrics and ITU. This rotation will expect the candidate to participate in the Theatre and ITU on call rotas. All rota’s are EWTD compliant in line with the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and 2019 amendments to this contract.

The post holder will be expected to maintain a logbook and electronic record of learning experiences, including multisource feedback. It is expected that the post holder will register with the Royal College of Anaesthetists, and ideally use the electronic lifelong platform they offer. Educational Development Time will be provided in keeping with the guidance from the RCOA, so as to allow time for recording of such activities as well as participation in Quality improvement projects, research and clinical governance.

Essential criteria
1. Basic medical degree
2. •Completed at least two years Foundation training at FY1 and FY2 level in a relevant training programme
3. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
4. Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
5. •Completed RCoA IAC

6. •3 months experience in ITU / Anaesthetics in the UK
