Offer description

Part time - 0.6FTE (22.2 hours per week)

The University of Northampton is seeking to appoint a Lecturer Podiatry to join our well-established and supportive team of academic and clinical educators. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a programme with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, practice-focused education, with ongoing development planned to further enhance our provision.

We are looking for a committed and motivated individual with a foundation in contemporary podiatry practice and a genuine enthusiasm for education. The post offers an excellent opportunity for experienced clinicians seeking to transition into academia, as well as for established academics who wish to play a key role in shaping the future of podiatry education.

You will contribute to the design, delivery and assessment of high-quality learning across our provision. This will include teaching across both theoretical and practical components of the curriculum, supporting students to integrate evidence-based practice with professional skills required for safe and effective patient care.

The post also offers opportunities to work collaboratively across the Faculty of Health, contributing to interprofessional education, simulation-based learning and service user involvement within our modern campus environment. You will play an important part in ensuring that our teaching remains responsive to developments in practice and aligned to professional and regulatory expectations.

You will be supported by an experienced programme team and will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. The post includes opportunities to engage with placement providers and clinical educators, supporting the delivery of high-quality practice learning experiences across a range of settings.

This post is subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service before any appointment can be confirmed.

About you

We welcome applications from experienced clinicians interested in transitioning into academia, as well as those with existing higher education experience. Whatever your background, you will bring a reflective, evidence-informed approach to practice and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting the development of future podiatrists.

You will demonstrate the ability, or clear potential, to contribute to high-quality teaching and assessment across a range of learning formats. This will include face-to-face teaching, supporting learning within a clinical environment, and utilising digital platforms to enhance engagement. You will be committed to helping students develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to deliver safe and effective patient care.

An interest in research and evidence-based practice is important, alongside a willingness to contribute to undergraduate project supervision. Previous experience of teaching and student support is advantageous but not essential, as support and development opportunities will be provided.

You will be committed to delivering an excellent student experience through effective planning, engaging teaching and robust assessment practices. You will also demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, enabling you to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues, students and practice partners.

We particularly welcome applicants from clinical practice looking to transition into academia, as well as those already working within university settings.
