Job Description
The Operational Technology (OT) Specialist is part of our global OT Security Solutions team. This team secures bp’s process control networks and OT systems, working with business teams to protect physical systems critical to frontline operations. We design and enforce security controls and collaborate with site teams to ensure smooth operation of those controls.
The Operational Security Solutions Specialist will support the development and deployment of security solutions for the OT environment, contributing to solution designs, operational processes and procedures, and identifying or developing automated processes to simplify the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Support design, configuration, and delivery of security solutions for industrial control systems (ICS) within a delivery squad.
* Collaborate with IT and OT teams to implement security best practices.
* Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve existing security services.
* Learn and apply industry standards such as NIST SP 800-82 and ISA/IEC 62443.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or a related field.
* Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC).
* Understanding of engineering and operational procedures used at industrial facilities within the OT domain.
* Familiarity with mainstream industrial control system vendor solutions and architectures – Honeywell, ABB, Emerson, Rockwell.
* Interest in cybersecurity principles and threat landscapes in OT environments.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and track record of delivering technology solutions.
* Effective communication and a strong willingness to learn.
Nice to Have
* Project and design experience in industrial control systems and/or cybersecurity.
* Exposure to tools such as MDIoT, Sentinel, Wireshark, Nessus, or Splunk.
* Knowledge of data analysis and scripting (KQL, Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
Location and Travel
Roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027. Negligible travel is expected for this role.

This position is a hybrid of office and remote working.
