Your new role
Hitachi Rail have a superb opportunity for a Procurement Project Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement for Bids & Projects. As the Procurement Project Manager you will play a pivotal role in providing project management expertise across various projects for the procurement function. You will have prior procurement project management experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment meaning you will understand bill of materials, RFQ’s and the process. Some exposure to supply chain would be hugely beneficial but not essential.
As Procurement Project Manager you will use you strong communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate various functional teams. You will be responsible for the management of all procurement aspects ensuring work packages are executed in accordance with technical, programme, cost and performance requirements in order to create joint value through the business.
Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate must be willing to travel to other Hitachi Rail sites throughout the UK when required with rare but potential international travel.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
1. Be a leading example of the HRE missions, visions and values.
2. Be seen as the lead Procurement ambassador for the assigned strategic bid or active projects.
3. Co-ordinate the activity of all Procurement resources in support of the strategic bid to ensure work packages are executed achieving favourable conditions and consistency with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements.
4. Engage and communicate efficiently with internal customers and stakeholder as necessary in executing work packages.
5. Development of budgets with business stakeholders, ongoing budget management and reporting
6. Ownership of Strategic Sourcing Plan (SSP) process and lead the deployment for new bids and delivery for active projects.
7. Create and manage Procurement project delivery programme, resolution of schedule conflicts and feedback supply chain data into build programmes.
8. Liaison with Commercial, Project & Engineering functions to ensure effective communication and implementation of customer variations.
9. Development and management of KPIs to support effective procurement reporting and governance.
10. Lead the identification, monitoring and management of risk profiling across the projects.
11. Management and escalation of key issues affecting the procurement function.
12. Support the implementation and deployment of required process and procedures.
13. Control and management of handover process between strategic and operational procurement
About you
Essential
14. Prior experience/knowledge of a Procurement, ideally within a technical/manufacturing/engineering industry.
15. Understanding of Project Management methodologies.
16. Exceptional Interpersonal & communication skills to optimise cross-functional collaboration.
17. Meticulous planning and time management skills enabling efficient prioritisation.
18. The ability to management multiple work streams simultaneously.
19. Accurate management of budgets and costs with the understanding/experience of data analytics, bid support & cost modelling.
20. Has experience of creating and leading multi-functional teams
21. Strong commercial acumen and focus with an excellent understanding of financial data.
22. Display a passion, drive, agility and resilience in achieving ambitious targets under difficult circumstances, capitalises on lessons learned and responds positively to setbacks.
23. Working knowledge and application of Bills of materials.
24. Expert knowledge of Excel, Project, Visio and other Microsoft office packages & SAP or equivalent MRP system
25. Highly motivated and can work autonomously making decision and challenging when needed.
26. Demonstrates perseverance, patience and commitment for long term success within an ever changing environment.
