Standard hours of work – Monday to Friday 8am-4pm. Our client, based in Tameside, has a reputation for innovation and consistently leads in their chosen industry sector.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Commissioning Engineer to work on projects ranging from 433v through to 33kV. The role will involve commissioning testing of switchgear, protection relays, CTs, VTs and cabling up to 33kV, alongside all testing required for the adoption of switchgear and cabling by any host DNO/client.
Responsibilities
* Maintain, install and modify switchgear.
* Read wiring diagrams and work in electrical substations.
* Lead the job as the customers’ first point of contact and provide technical assistance.
* Be able to carry out the following testing: insulation resistance of cables; DC pressure and VLF testing of cables; insulation resistance testing of switchgear and transformers; AC flash testing of switchgear up to and over 3.3kV; AC flash testing of transformers; conductor testing of switchgear and busbars.
* Carry out the commissioning of: primary injection testing of CTs and VTs; ACBs, VCBs, OCBs & GCBs; magnetisation curve testing; G59 testing; scheme testing and fault finding; battery discharge testing; over current and earth fault relay testing; differential protection; unit protection, transformer protection, distance protection, motor protection.
* Other duties as required related to project commissioning and client support.
Qualifications
* Electrical engineering experience.
* Emergency First Aid Training.
* ECS-CSCS.
* CCNSG Contractors safety passport.
* Familiarity with working within a HV substation in a live environment.
* Self-motivated with total commitment to deadlines, excellent organisational and communication skills, and proven attention to detail.
* Full UK driving licence.
