Hours: 27 hours a week term time only
No weekends or bank holidays

About Us
At the Children's Respite Trust, we believe no family should face the challenges of caring for a child with a disability alone. We offer vital respite services at our Uckfield Centre and across Sussex, providing care and fun activities for children with a range of needs.
About the Role
As a Play Worker, you'll play a key role in delivering a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children during our before and after-school sessions. You'll help children start their day with a positive breakfast club experience and wind down in the afternoon with fun, creative activities that support their development and well-being.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values routine and structure, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families by providing reliable, high-quality wraparound care. You'll be part of a friendly team that puts children first, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and supported every day.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support engaging play activities that foster physical, emotional, and social growth
* Ensure children's safety and wellbeing at all times
* Support inclusive participation for children with varying disabilities
* Help plan and organise activities tailored to individual interests
* Communicate effectively with parents and team members
What We're Looking For
We are looking for candidates who have experience working with children, ideally those with SEND, or in a similar care or educational setting.
You should be:
* A positive, energetic team player who enjoys working with children aged 4–18
* Confident in planning and delivering engaging, tailored activities
* Responsible and committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children
* A strong communicator with good teamwork and IT skills
Requirements
* Experience working with children with SEND or in a similar care/education role is essential
* Education/childcare/playworker training is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided
* GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths preferred (or willingness to work towards equivalent)
